Larry Dean Holder, age 54 of Mystic, CT passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, July 4th, 2012 at his home.
He was born at the Westerly Hospital in Rhode Island on the first day of July 1958 to William Percy and Mildred George Holder. Larry joined his two brothers Michael and John and lived on Stanton Street in Pawcatuck, CT
He graduated Stonington High School and worked at The Mystic Seaport, Mystic, CT in 1976, received his Bachelor's Degree from Central CT State University in 1987 and his MBA in hospitality from Johnson & Wales College in Rhode Island in 1998. Larry worked for his tribe at The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation in the Museum & Research Center as a financial analyst.
Larry was an avid traveler and at the age of 48 decided to retire and has toured the world. He was an avid rock music fan and would spend weeks in Europe attending concerts almost every night he was there. He loved life, people and running. You would see him running the streets in Mystic with his long time friend Grace Lewis. Larry had many friends and although he was sort of shy you would always see his award winning smile. It is that brilliant shy smile that will always be remembered.
He was predeceased by the late Mildred (George) Holder and father William Percy Holder.
Larry is survived by his two brothers John Holder & wife Suzan of Stonington, Michael Holder and wife Lauren of Mashantucket, three nieces Stephanie Patrick & husband Brad, Kristen Holder & Kathryn Holder, four Nephews Bryan Holder, Christopher Holder, Alexander Holder and Dylan Holder and two great nephews Liam and Andrew Patrick.
His family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic on Wednesday, July 11th, 2012 from 5-7pm. A graveside memorial service will be held Thursday, July 12th at 11:00 am at Elm Grove Cemetery, 197 Greenmanville Ave., Mystic, CT.
