CONDOLENCES (GuestBook)

Dear Joyce, You know how much I loved Harold and you. I am really sad that he passed away before I could see him again and discuss his views on your new président .We did partake a similar view on life and I am truly sorry that such a brillant mind is no more with us . Joyce, I wish I could be, physically, at your side tomorrow but it is impossible. I will be with you in mind and say a last goodby to Harold on wednesday. Lots of kisses to you! With love, Danielle.

My heartfelt condolences to the whole family. I have fond memories of Ray, especially from July of 1992,when he and his family brought me along as Jill's companion to Italy for the month. Best summer ever! He helped foster my love of languages. You were a great man, Ray, and you will be missed by many! Love, Elaine

Dear Joyce, Please accept my heartfelt condolences at this most difficult hour. I had the luck to know Ray in Italia many years ago. I appreciated your company and your kindness. I am sad that he passed away. I think at you. Je te souhaite courage et force pour passer à travers ces moments difficiles. Je pense à toi et je t'embrasse. Au revoir. Nicole Beaudin

We knew him as "Ray" when he taught at Freiburg University in the summer of 1981 -- a difficult time for me, a young Navy veteran with no clear view of the future. Ray taught didactics of teaching. It was the best class i ever participated in. He was an inspiration, demanding in an inobtrusive way, encouraging, witty, funny - and caring far above and beyond what we students were used to. He gave us the feeling that he cared for every one of us - more a priest than just a teacher. Which is of course what he was, too. I will always cherish the memories i have of Ray, and i will continue telling every new generation of students about him - and how much of a difference he made.
