Alfred Norman Jalbert, born November 21, 1919, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 10, 2013 after a brief illness. Alfred was a loving husband to Jeanette M. Jalbert (nee Pilon), to whom he was married for 65 years (October 23, 1948). Beloved father of 10 children: Philip, Marie, Lorraine (Spahr), Yvonne (Axiotis), Denise, Peter, Ronald, Constance (Reese), John and Gerard. Alfred is survived by seven grand-children (Ian, Travis, Hadley, Miles, Zachary and Sarah (Spahr), Thomas (Bridges), and his nephews Joseph (Fort Walton Beach, Florida) and Thomas O’Neil (Wilbraham). For 45 years Alfred supported his family as an expediter, and in other positions, at Package Machinery Company of East Longmeadow. He served as an AFL-CIO union official in all positions, including treasurer, eschewing only the presidency. For several terms he was president of the Package Machinery retirees club, and often visited his friends after the club’s dissolution. Alfred enjoyed fishing, bowling and playing poker. He was loved by his family and liked by all who knew him. A Funeral Service will be held on Tues Oct 15, 2013 at 9:00 AM from the Grise Funeral Home 280 Springfield St, Chicopee, MA with a Mass of Christian Burial to take place at 10:00 AM in St Anne Church 30 College St, Chicopee with interment to follow at Calvary Cemetery, Hampden St., Chicopee. Visiting Hours will be held on Mon Oct 14, 2013 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Rest in peace, you will be missed.
