Hazel F. (Martin) Paes, 88, of New Bedford died peacefully, February 25, 2010 at Sacred Heart Nursing Home.
She was the wife of the late Antone "Tony" Paes.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late John F. and Mary F. (Cardoza) Martin, she lived in New Bedford all of her life.
Mrs. Paes was formerly employed with local textile mills and later worked in retail management for Mars Bargainland and the Outlet Department Stores in Dartmouth until her retirement.
She enjoyed traveling to Cape Cod and Florida.
Survivors include a son, Randy Paes of Taunton; 3 daughters: Martha Morris of Branford, CT, Roberta Miller and her husband, Buddy of New Bedford and Susan Furtado and her husband Bill of East Freetown; 2 brothers: Robert Martin of Jacksonville, FL and Wilfred Martin of Beaumont, TX; 5 grandchildren, Trisha Morris and her husband Jonathan Katz of Branford, CT, Lori Luzzo and her husband Ben of New Bedford, Billy Furtado of Norton, Jason Miller and Kristy Haskell, both of New Bedford; 5 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Larry Martin, Ethel Martin and Eleanor Sylvia.
Her family will receive guests on Monday morning, March 1st from 9 AM - 10:15 AM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home For Funerals, 495 Park St. New Bedford followed by her Funeral Mass at St. John Neumann Church, 157 Middleboro Road, E. Freetown, MA at 11 AM. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to St. Joseph’s Unit, Sacred Heart Home, 359 Summer St., New Bedford.
