CONDOLENCES (GuestBook)

Dear Field family, So sorry I was traveling so I could not attend the service for Burr. Also sorry I did not make more attempts at visiting with him during his illness. He was more than my doctor. He was a friend and what a wonderful guy! 20 years ago, the compassion he showed me (not all Prosser Christians were so forgiving) helped me pull myself together. Leaving a small token of my esteem in the P.O. box is the least I can do.

On February 6, 1996 Joshua was born and Dr. Field left his own birthday party - at cake cutting time- to be our "Baby Doctor" at the delivery. He was Doctor, Friend and for a number of years co-worker at PMH. He wil be sorely missed

Burr was such a wonderful friend. I first met him when Autumn and Jeannie Rose were on a six or seven-year old soccer team and I wondered who this man was who was loudly and enthusiastically exhorting the girls to greater athletic glory. I shared with him a time or two a case of my homemade wine, which he graciously pretended to cherish. He attended, with his family, several Carter family harvest parties, even bringing his dad a time or two, with whom I shared naval officer sea stories. He invited me to dinner once, prepared blackened beef, and we passed the evening with great food, wine, and fellowship. Burr's friendship was emblematic of the great support I received from many people in Prosser while trying to raise, as a single dad, two rambunctious kids, trying to get to the launch point. I admire Burr and Mary Jean's parenting achievements as demonstrated by their children, all accomplished and excellent human beings. Burr reminds me of Mark Antony's description of Julius Caesar: "His life was gentle, and the elements so mix'd in him, that Nature might stand up and say to all the world, "This was a man!""

Burr was such a big part of our family for so many wonderful years. Unfortunately not enough years. He will be missed but never forgotten. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family. God Bless Burr and all he did for so many.

With great sadness I write for the loss of Burr Field. He was not only my preceptor and mentor, but also a trusted friend. He led me along the path when times were difficult with his strength in God and his conviction to family and patients. He will be remembered with fondness and I am grateful to God for being blessed to have known him.

It was a huge shock for me to see Burr's picture in the funeral notices. He was not only my preceptor and mentor, but a friend that will be sorely missed. I worked the Benton City Clinic and he came over on a weekly basis to review charts, give input on difficult cases, and then we would spend some personal time. He was extremely understanding, kind, compassionate, and caring. He led me when the path was difficult and the way was not easy. He will be remembered in my thoughts and especially in my prayers.
