Obituary

WESTBOROUGH: Phyllis J. (Trachtman) Weisman, age 86, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend entered into rest surrounded by her loving family on Saturday afternoon, May 25, 2013, at the MetroWest Medical Center in Framingham. Phyllis was the beloved wife of Albert Weisman for 63 years.

Born in Brooklyn, NY, the daughter of the late Edward and Ray Trachtman, Phyllis moved with her family to the Beachmont section of Revere while in her youth. Phyllis studied vocal performance at the New England Conservatory of Music, performing in Boston on several occasions.

Phyllis and Albert were married in 1950, and after short residences in Miami, FL and Revere, settled in Peabody to raise their two sons. Phyllis lent her talents to the chorale group at the family’s synagogue, Temple Ner Tamid, for many years. The Weismans moved to Natick in 1980.

Long interested in history and archaeology, Phyllis devoted much of her time to the Harvard Semitic Museum, and in 1998 at the age of 72, she received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Harvard Extension School, graduating cum laude. In 2002, Phyllis and Albert moved to Sudbury.

Phyllis was a devotee of aerobics and exercised several times a week with the same group for over 30 years. She and Albert were also constant in their many friendships, some having been fostered since grade school.

In addition to Albert, she is survived by their two sons, Robert M. Weisman and his wife Susan of Ashland, and Eric A. Weisman and his companion Tracy Dennis of Owensboro, KY; a grandson, Ross E. Weisman and his wife Reneé of Framingham; and three nieces. She was also the sister of the late Bernard Trachtman of San Diego.

A graveside funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 5th at 1:30p.m. at Dell Park Cemetery, 163 Pond Street, Natick. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.

Donations may be made in Phyllis’ memory to Heifer International, 216 Wachusett Street, Rutland, MA 01453. www.heifer.org.
