As a student in Miss Horne's 4th grade class (1965-65) I was inspired by this amazing women to pursue my dreams. I was fortunate to be in her class. She taught us the wonders of volcanoes, the vikings, Marco Polo, butterflies and insects, and above all travel. As I encountered reminders of what I learned in her class, traveling places that I learned about on her maps, I realized how much it all had meant to me, and how much it still did. I remember talking with her at our Mason Rice reunion (2010), she spoke of going to Mongolia (in her 80s) and about her birding. Miss Horne, was blessed with a full life and longevity.
