We were all saddened at the news of Bob's passing. He was a kind and generous neighbor who was always ready to strike up a conversation. He always looked out for our elderly parents and constantly checked on their welfare, for which we will always be grateful. We will miss him and will always remember his kindness.

I'll always remember that time you pulled me aside to inquire about Jayne and also asked me to look out for her well being. Your capacity for caring is enormous and left a lasting impression. RIP

To the Holland family: I just learned of Bob’s passing. Please accept my sincere condolences on your loss. I first met Bob when I was a 12 year old in Needham. He was my junior high PE teacher and football coach. Unlike most of his students, I knew him in another capacity too. He was the manager at Rosemary Beach in Needham in the 1960's. He hired me after NHS graduation in 1967 to be a lifeguard at Rosemary. My relationship that began with "Mr. Holland" as teacher-student became a valued and formative adult connection with Bob at Rosemary. Suzanne Trussell also joined the Rosemary crew that summer. Suzanne was from Needham, but I did not know her until the summer of 1967 because she attended Ursuline Academy, not NHS. Bob’s hiring decisions that year also had a major, unplanned impact on the rest of my life. Both Suzanne and I continued to work summers at Rosemary for several years. Then we married in 1972. This November, we will celebrate our 43rd anniversary together. Bob was a decent, caring and kind man, one of the good guys. My deepest sympathies to all of you.
