My dear Gualtieri family, I have no words (as you witnessed yesterday) to console or provide wisdom. I can say that I love your father dearly, and he will always remain dear to me. As our hearts touch in this time of sorrow, I do send any and all strength I have to share. You are an amazing family and so strong. If you believe in heaven, I know your dad is now with your mom and Frank, Jr. I love you all and am always inspired by the love you share with each other and the world. Let courage and brilliance help guide your way as you find a path through the sadness and loss. I know we will always remember Frank as a shining light, helping to guide our way. With my utmost love and respect, Linda Swardlick Smith

I have a vague recollection of meeting, or at least hearing about, Frank J. Gualtieri when I was about 5 years old. This is because he was marrying Gertrude Hartford, who lived with our family in the 1940s. I also have a vague recollection of Gertrude and Frank's wedding, which I think was celebrated with a party at our home in Arlington. Although I don't have any idea of the circumstances that placed Gertrude with my family, I am confident that she was fortunate to be cared for and looked after to some degree by my parents, Maurice and Margaret Kenny. There is also no doubt at all in my mind that Gertrude added substantially to the lives of my parents and their four children. Until my sister Marilyn brought Frank's death and obituary to my attention, I had rarely thought of this couple who had gone off to lead their own lives. Did they ever! My learning of the productive and, I'm sure, wonderful life Gertrude spent with Frank, and he with her, gives me great pleasure. It also gives me the opportunity to appreciate even more the lives of my mother and father.

To all the Gualtieri family, our deepest sympathy. My husband happened to be reading the obituary section of the Globe, and came upon your father's notice. How this happened is beyond us both, but I was so happy that he saw this. I have thought of your Dad and Mom so many times and aways thought I would try to find them and say hello, but, of course, never did. I am sorry now that I didn't take the time to say hello and catch up on their life and let them know about what was happening with the Kenny family. Your mom was such a wonderful young woman when she was liveing with us in Arlington. She was like a sister to me. I remember when your Dad would come to our house to take your Mom out for a date He was such a lovely, gentle and kind man, and a some times they took me to a movie or out for an ice cream. I remember the day they were married, and how beautiful your mother looked and your Dad so handsome. Your Mom certainly enriched our lives, and I think she thougt of us as her second family. I know I loved her very much. Please accept our sympathy on the death of your beloved Dad.

Lisa, I am sorry to hear about your Dad's passing. My father is now 86 and still living on Algonquin Rd. When I visit him, sometimes I would drive down Mohawk, and see your house. There are new streets now, but our childhood homes are still there. For now at least.
