A LOT of years ago (approx. 1978) our Aunt Irene decided to surprise our dad with a visit. Of course, she chose a flight that had her arriving around 11:00 p.m., so we had to make an excuse to be out of the house to get her picked up (I think I blamed it on inventory at Pizza Hut). It wasn't until we were at the airport that I suddenly realized I didn't even know if I would recognize her, as we hadn't seen her since we were little. Back then you could meet a flight at the gate, so we could see everyone as they entered the airport. I don't know why I was worried- I guess family is family and you just know. I knew exactly who she was as soon as I saw her. And our dad was only a little angry when we took her home to wake him up. :) We did get a few more visits, which I am thankful for. Condolences to the extended Massachusetts branch of family from our little bunch in Texas.
