Dearest Steen Boys, All of you were very precious to your dear mother. She told me many memories of your antics, trips, and stories of your lives. She knew each of your personalities, characteristics, uniqueness's, and loved you each for your own distinct specialness to her. I phoned her on my way to work almost every day on my way to work, and you were prominent in her conversations. Since Kimberly was the grandchild around her the most, she told me what Kim did at school, how beautiful her Norwegian blond hair was, every detail of their times together. She did the same for her Calif grandkids and doted on every detail of their growing up, their schooldays, and all about John's family. She adored Jeannie and Marilyn. She told me every detail of Charlie's expeditions and travels and was so proud of him; as she was so proud of each one of her boys and was thrilled for every chance to talk or see you. She was so happy for every daughter-in-law, how talented and beautiful each was and how suited they were to their husband's, each of her son's. Never getting to raise her own daughter, she especially loved her many granddaughters. Did you know, she bought a beautiful doll for every granddaughter's birthday every year even though she was never able to give it to most of them--after some of you started having your own children she said she was discarding them--but just always know how much you were loved. She also told me the details of the many grandsons, all she knew of their growing up and was so proud of all of them. She said she understood boys better. Until she couldn't see well she took short-hand notes of her phone conversations and of radio programs, just so she would keep up her shorthand speed! She grew voraciously in the Lord via the Christian Radio programs. She completed the "5 Yrs Thru the Bible" course with Dr. Vernon McGee doing all the Bible questions. She enjoyed going to Friends of Israel Bible Conf with my family in about '85. She and I read the same biographies of Missionaries and discussed them. Mary Slessor who went to Africa was her favorite. She was so encouraged about the lives of single women who went to serve the Lord. For years, she "kept her sanity" playing the hymns on the piano and singing aloud all alone. She always noticed the beauty of the autumn leaves and spring flowers, detailing them to Grandma Trim and later to us. She told me when you boys cleaned the gutters or replaced a window. She appreciated all the little things you did. Since her world was small, she remembered vividly every detail of every visit of yours. She was truly a praying woman. She blossomed as she immersed herself in God's Word thru reading and Christian Radio teaching. She encouraged so many to walk worthy of Jesus's calling, mainly myself. "Who can find a woman of worth? Her price is far above rubies!" Prov 31. To paraphrase Heb 11:"Precious Ruth--she died in faith; a stranger and pilgrim on this earth; of whom the world was not worthy. She desired a better, a heavenly country. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called Ruth's God, for He has prepared a City for Ruth." Be sure to be washed clean from all sin by Christ's Blood and thereby enjoy God's Holy City with her forever, worshiping around God's Throne, where there are no more tears. Blessings Precious Steen Family.

Hope to be with you on Saturday--arriving 10:00 Friday. Staying 2 nights with Patty and leaving Monday a.m. Thinking of you all. Sorry, I'll be unable to be with you Friday. Always enjoyed Auntie Ruth and know how much she loved the Lord. My Dad said her father appreciated her spiritual growth under Mr. Howell during her first years of marriage. Hard to believe how fast the years go by but we can only rejoice that our loved ones are with the Lord which is far better. July 29 was my dad's birthday which she remembered for years-Much love to you all, Lois

Our love and prayers for you all. We have wonderful memories of dear Ruth laying on a splendid meal for us at Ed's home when we visited Boston some years ago. She made us feel so welcomed and set us a good example of hospitality.

Thinking of you as you honor your dear mother. She was linked to our family in a special way...best friends with my Aunt Evelyn (Page)(until the Lord took her at 18). Remembering special times spent together when we were growing up. It's great to remember a mother's special influence and love. With our love and prayers for peace and comfort in the days ahead...and lasting memories until we're all together again!!
