Obituary

Brookfield – Jo-Ann M. (Thomas) Moen, 51, of Brookfield and formerly of Millbury, died on Sunday, April 8th surrounded by her family and friends in the Umass Memorial Medical Center – University Campus after an illness.

Jo-Ann is survived by her husband of 27 years, Stephen D. Moen; her daughter Courtney G. Moen of Brookfield; two brothers, Paul D. Thomas of Warren, MA and Bruce E. Thomas of Millbury, MA; a sister Deborah J. Thomas of Auburn, MA and many nephews and nieces. She was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Richard H. and Grace E. (Proal) Thomas and is also predeceased by a brother Richard H. Thomas Jr. who died in 1990 and a sister Sandra E. Puzo who died in 2005.

Mrs. Moen is a graduate of Millbury High School and attended Quinsigamond Community College. She worked as the activities director for Radius Healthcare Center of Southbridge for 12 years before retiring due to illness in 2009.

Jo-Ann was a fun loving person who was most happy when she was spending time with her family and friends. She had a special bond with her daughter Courtney and would be at every possible softball game that she could. There were many things that Jo-Ann enjoyed in her life, however some of the happiest times were when she was taking trips to the beach, camping and having gatherings at her family home with those that were closest to her. Jo-Ann leaves many friends behind, and will be missed by many, especially her pug “Bella”.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to all of the staff from the 7th Floor ICU at Umass Memorial Medical Center – University Campus for the loving care, support and exceptional treatment that was given to Jo-Ann.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, April 11, from the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM in Saint Brigid’s Church 59 Main Street, Millbury. Burial will follow in Central Cemetery, Millbury. Calling hours are on Tuesday, April 10, from 5 to 8 PM in the funeral home.
