Dr. Dickenson had only been my doctor for a couple of months before his passing. He was assisting my husband, I, and our 5 children in our screening to go overseas. Our most recent appointment, he requested to see his patients in his personal office versus an examination room. I walked in and he had his crocs off and was kicked off. I complemented him on his weight loss, told him I too loved Coke Zero, and asked about the pictures framed on his wall. His eyes lit UP as he raved about his adoration and admiration of his children and wife who were covering the main wall in his office. I am a military wife. Changing duty stations often and having 5 children, I have seen and had numerous doctors. Dr. Dickenson's being a doctor, as amazing a doctor as he was, was overshadowed by his personality. Walking into the room you had to feel the warmth in the air. I had 4 visits with this doctor and in that limited time I can say that he was the best doctor I have ever had the pleasure to meet. I normally do not write in registries, especially of people I barely knew, BUT, and I am sure they already know, I would like for Dr. Dickerson's wife and children to know his biggest and best accomplishment must have been his family for I had never seen him speak with such fire and happiness as I did the day I asked about those 5 framed pictures. My deepest condolences... -Jennifer Blunt

Our prayers are with you all at this difficult time. I did not get to meet Dr. Dickinson, but he touched my families lives in a very special way. My father was a patient of his when he was in private practice and he recognized that he had dementia and put him on medicine that helped extend his life for many years. For this we were very grateful. My father passed away last year at the age of 87. Dr. Dickinson sounds like he was the type of Dr. we all wish we could have. May the Lord help you cope with his loss.

Dr.Dickinson was my family practice doctor for several years. He did more than care for me physically, he also cared for me during some very difficult times during my life. I don't think he knew how much he was loved and appreciated. I wish I had told him how much he made a difference in my life. This should be a reminder to embrace the once we care about before it is to late. My thoughts and prayers to the family.

Dear Dickinson family, I was so shocked and saddened about your dad's death. We had him as our family doctor when he was in private practice. He always took the time to ask how we were doing and was always so kind and caring. When I taught all of you kids at Augusta Christian, I never knew what to expect on special days. Sometimes he would come dressed up in some costume and he could be so funny. You could tell he cared for each of you so very much. I just wanted you to know that hearing everyone speak at his funeral service was an inspiration. It made me want to treasure every second and live life to the fullest. I will be praying for you each day that the loss will become easier to bear. We don't need to worry about Daniel Dickinson. He is probably dancing in the streets of heaven. Love to each of you, Mrs. Cheryl Mattox

My heartfelt condolences to the family. We in North Augusta are composing a letter to our local representatives concerning the safety of our cyclists. There have been far too many instances of this kind in Georgia-Lina and the Southeast over the past year. Is there anything we can do to commemorate the Doctor? A fund-raising ride? A highway section named in his honor? A favorite charity?

My father, James Free, was one of Dr. Dickinson's " buddies " patient for several years before succumbing to alzheimers Jan 1, 2009. He and my mom spoke lovingly of him. As I took dad to see Dr. Dickinson the last months of his life, I saw the bond Dr. Dickinson had with his patients. Our condolences to the Dickinson family. Dr. Dickinson will be missed but no one can replace him. Heaven's gain is our loss. We are comforted in the knowledge that we will see him again. God Bless. The James Free family

My prayers are for his family's comfort and encouragement.

I only knew Dr.Dickson for a short time. I was a patient of his in the family practice clinic. The first time I visit him he acted as though he knew me, joking about my age of going back to school. He ask me was I to old to be going back to school, I looked at him and said you don't know me. We laugh. To the family Dr. Dickson will be miss by many. I will be praying that God will give you all strenght to go on. I know that it a sad time but, God give us no more than we can bear.

I can't tell you how sorry John and I are about Dan. We have enjoyed his friendship and vivacious personality for many years. We have watched the kids grow up and his joy in them and we have shared many good times at dinner meetings. It was John's special privelege to be his physician these last few years. Our hearts go out to your family at this terrible time. I hope it helps to know how many people thought so well of him and are better because of his influence. We are saddened beyound belief at his untimely death. At least he was doing something he loved to the last minute of his life. All our love and sympathy to the family. Charlotte and John Carr

Our hearts are deeply saddened by this loss. We are very honored to know and love Dan and his family. Dan was a humble man of God and kept it very real. He was a respectful husband to Esmerelda and an extremely proud Dad to his 4 beautiful children. I have a few favorite memories of Dan that I will always remember and am so grateful that you, his family have so many more memories to cherish. Dr. Dan Dickinson was a Good man and lived his life doing what he loved, was better for it, and was able to share his "betterness" with others. Our hearts and prayers are with you always. Dan was many things - a good physician, an exceptional athlete and cyclist, a loving husband and proud father, a compassionate servant to others, an adventurer, and a teacher eager to share his knowledge and experiences with others. He fulfilled all of these roles with an infectious sense of humor and abundant common sense. We were priviledged to see him in all of these roles. Our lives have been enriched by our time with him and will continue to be enriched by our fond memories of him. He is loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him. Our thoughts and prayers will be with his beautiful and loving family during these sad times. And while he has been taken from us far too soon, he lives on in the hearts and minds of everyone he met. Mike and Cindy Miller, Decatur, Georgia.

Dr. Dan will be greatly missed by all who knew him. I was a fellow cyclist who rode with him on many occasions and so enjoyed his upbeat attitude and personality. He lived life to the fullest, was devoted to his wife and family, had a laugh that could rival Santa and most importantly, had a heart that was larger than life itself. I know he is riding his bike along a beautiful stretch of smooth roadway, with a tailwind at his back right now in heaven. We will miss you greatly Dr. Dan.

"But God said to him, ..."This very night your soul is required of you; and now who will own what you have prepared?' Luke 12:20 I know for sure that what Dr. D prepared was love wherever he went. Joyful and giving, kind and Christlike-- He leaves this world blessing others with his 4 beautiful and wonderful children and his lovely wife, whom I know he honored and loved dearly. He is a respectable man, one who I seek to be more like. I am thankful for knowing him and his wonderful family. Peace to his family and friends during this difficult time of missing him so! We will meet again--for sure. What will we do with the time we have left? Mirror his example, and show forth the love of Christ wherever we go. I thank God for allowing he and his family to be in my life. I thank God for Dr. D's beautiful spirit and overflowing cup, full of all the fruits of the spirit. --Amber Brown McCall, RN, PhD(c)
