Kathryn Murphy
Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Sunday, April 14, 2013, Mrs. Kathryn H. Murphy, 81, wife of the late Patrick L. Murphy.
Mrs. Murphy retired from the Augusta National Golf Club as executive secretary of the Masters Golf Tournament. She was a charter member of Belvedere Methodist Church and was a lifelong member of VFW Post 3200 Ladies Auxiliary. Mrs. Murphy enjoyed volunteering for Veteran causes and riding motorcycles with friends.
Family members include daughters: Denise Murphy Sims of Athens, GA, Billie Gail Murphy of Augusta; son: Wayne L. Murphy (Jennie Hyatt) of Augusta; grandchildren: Patrick Sims, Justin Sims (Stephanie), Eli T. Murphy, Jennifer D. Kanagy (Chad), John James; great grandchildren: Sullivan, Skyler, Blaire; sister: Frances H. Pye; numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Patrick L. Murphy and daughter, Kathryn M. “Katie” James.
The funeral service will be held Thursday, April 18, 2013 at 3:00 P.M. at in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. Joe Bowden officiating. Burial will follow in Westover Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be William P. (Skip) Shealy, David P. Lamar, Professor James (Jim) Benedict, Orville M. (Chip) Brown, Richard (Rick) Brown, John D. Elliott and Harry M. (Preacher) Farmer.
