Obituary


Timothy Robert Martin entered through the gates of Heaven on Monday, January 7, 2019.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, January 11, 2019 at Platt’s Crawford Avenue Chapel with Pastor Bryan Cockrell officiating. Interment to follow at Westover Memorial Park.

Born in Erie, PA to Robert Paul and Anna Frances Dadeo Martin, Tim graduated in 1963 from Cathedral Preparatory School and in 1967 received a BS degree from Gannon College in Erie. Being a Distinguished Military Graduate, he was commissioned a 2LT in the regular Army the same day he graduated. Tim achieved the rank of Captain, serving as Company Commander of the 553rd Military Police Co. during the Vietnam Conflict.

Tim retired as Chief of Labor and Employee Relations at the Augusta VA Hospital. He was Chairman of the Daniel Field General Aviation Commission. Tim was a member of and previously served on the Advisory Board and as an usher at The Sanctuary, a member of the Irish Mafia Golf Association, former president of Westside HS Athletic Boosters Club, and had been a volunteer baseball and basketball coach for RCRD. He enjoyed touring battlefields, state capitals, Italy, but most of all he enjoyed visiting his spiritual homeland of Israel.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Mikki Johnson Martin; two sons, Timothy R. Martin, Jr. (Allyson) of Atlanta, and Robert Paul “Bobby” Martin II (Katie); four grandchildren, Wynnton and Tammyn of Atlanta, and Ella Kate and Jakob of Augusta; a sister, Nancy Wells (Thomas G.) of Erie, PA; two brothers, Col. (Ret.) Richard H. Martin (Gayle) of Jacksonville, AL and Patrick G. Martin, Esq. (Sue) of New Braunfels, TX; and several nieces and nephews.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Daniel Field General Aviation Commission and the Irish Mafia Golf Association.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening, January 10, 2019 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.
