It's not because I never think of Dot that I have not written before. She was my neighbor at Whittier forever. She loved my soups, shared cookies and ice cream, and in Truro offered the wonderful sound of water lapping. For her company, I even watched her eat oysters. Her name brings forth the smell of homemade breads from Pittsburg. And that is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to missing Dot. For her family, there is a lifetime of memories.
