Obituary

AMHERST, NH: Enrico G. Lauranzano, 90, formerly of Beverly, died Sunday, June 9, 2013 in the Palliative Care Unit of the Veteran’s Medical Center, Manchester, New Hampshire following an extended illness. He was the devoted and loving husband of Donna (Gordon) Lauranzano and the former husband of Frances (Grothaus) Lauranzano (deceased).
Born in Beverly on May 18, 1923, he was the son of the late Natale and Colomba (Marcucci) Lauranzano. He had resided in Beverly for many years before moving to Amherst, New Hampshire. Mr. Lauranzano, along with two bothers was a combat veteran in the US Army during WWII. He was an avid football player and graduate of Beverly High School, class of 1941 and Vesper George School of Art. He, along with his sister Joanna and several others was a founding member and Past Commander of the Vittori-Rocci Post of Beverly and was instrumental in organizing a visit from former heavy weight boxer Rocky Marciano in the early 50's.
After retiring from his career as a purchasing agent he, along with his wife Donna, began to fulfill his life long dream of becoming an artist. Specializing in pen and ink his favorite topics were landscapes. His passion for art took him to Italy to present a piece to the Mayor of his grandparents village as well as to several shows and donations to silent auctions. Along with his art, Mr. Lauranzano took time to collect, organize, write and publish a narrative of his families history. Mr. Lauranzano embraced his love for art, his heritage and his family in many ways and will be sorely missed by family, friends and especially his devoted wife Donna.
In addition to his wife of twenty-six years, he is survived by his daughters, Patricia Grothaus, Judith Rich and her husband, William,; three sons, Richard, Kenneth and Thomas Lauranzano and 8 grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Natale, Rafael, Guido Lauranzano, Sr. Frances Lauranzano and Phyllis Willey along with her husband John. From his wife Donna Gordon Lauranzano, he is survived by sisters-in-law, Nina Bourque and her husband Roland, Coral Hazen and her husband William, brothers-in-law, Richard Gordon and his wife Connie and Ronald Gordon and deceased sister in law April Moore as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday in St. John the Evangelist Church, New Balch St., Beverly at 11 a.m. Visitation will be held prior to the Mass in the Grondin Funeral Home, 376 Cabot St., Beverly from 8 – 10:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Manchester VA Medical Center, 718 Smyth Rd., Manchester, NH 03104. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Beverly.
