Obituary

GLOUCESTER: Scott Thomas Tolman, Sr., 48, died Sunday, January 20, 2008 in the New England Medical Center, Boston due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident on April 26, 2007 in Skowhegan, Maine.
Born in Gloucester on September 9, 1959, he was the son of William R. Tolman, Sr. and Harriett A. (Enslow) Tolman of New Portland, Maine. Scott attended Gloucester public schools.
Scott was employed as a commercial fisherman out of Alaska, Hawaii, Seattle, Gloucester, New Bedford and lastly in New Hampshire for many years before his accident in Maine. He had other jobs on land but, he always went back to the sea. That was his life. Scott lived a hard life and played even harder. Scott put his life on hold four years ago for six months. For forty-six days, he and his sister, Kim took care of their father 24 hours a day, while he was at the Maine Medical Center in Portland for open heart surgery. When his father came home, Scott drove him to and from his doctor’s appointments and did all his personal care. He later went back to Portland Hospital again for the birth of his first grandchild, Gage on April 10, 2007.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a son, Scott T. Tolman, Jr. and his fiancé, Katie both of Beverly, a daughter, Tiffany Tolman and her companion, Josh both of Portland, ME, the light of his life, his grandson, Gage of Portland, ME, one brother, William R. Tolman, Jr. of New Portland, ME, eight sisters and five brothers-in-law, Kim and Donald Dean of Canaan, ME, Kathy and Salvatore Pusaterri of Essex, MA, Suzanne and Frank Genovese of Gloucester, Lisa and Bruce Laurie of Dover, NH, Terri and Kurby Hubbard, Heidi Tolman and Nikita Tolman all of New Portland, ME and Traci Tolman of New Vineyard, ME and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews. He was predeceased by the mother of his children, Denise Simon.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, January 25, 2008 in the Central Elementary School in New Portland, ME at 5 P.M. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. There are no visiting hours. There will be a memorial service to be held on Cape Ann at a later date.
