Obituary

Kaitlyn “Kait” B. Schlegel, 26 of Franklin died suddenly January 13 in the Southern New Hampshire Medical Center in Nashua.
Born in Yale–New Haven Hospital, New Haven, Connecticut, August 28, 1986, the daughter of Keith and Maureen (Farrell) Schlegel of Franklin, Miss Schlegel was raised in Guilford, Connecticut and had lived in Franklin since 1996.
She was a 2005 graduate of Franklin High School and a 2009 graduate of the University of Connecticut with a degree in sociology with a minor in Anthropology.
Miss Schlegel had been a fund raiser for the United Teen Equality Center at the time of her death,
Kait had been a lifelong volunteer, helping others.
In High School she had worked for Light up a Life Project. An avid softball player she also coached softball.
She had helped out with Newcomers events in Franklin and had worked at several animal shelters.
She had volunteered at the Nashua Humane Society.
Kait loved music and singing and was a member of the Masters Works Chorale of Lexington.
She had spent her junior year abroad in college in Paris, France and loved to travel.
In addition to her parents she is survived by her sisters, Erin C. Schlegel and Lauren K. Schlegel and her brother Michael R. Schlegel all of Franklin.
She is also survived by the love of her life Ryan E. Gleason of Nashua, New Hampshire.
She is survived by her grandparents Marie and Robert Farrell of New Milford, Connecticut, her grand uncle and aunt Agnes and John Benison of Stamford, Connecticut.
She also is survived by a large extended family and countless friends.
Her funeral will be held on Friday January 18 from the Ginley Funeral
Home of Franklin (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) 131 Main Street Franklin, at 9:00 followed by a funeral mass in St. Jude’s Church Norfolk at 10:00.
Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Franklin.
Calling hours will be on Thursday from 4-8. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may be made in her memory to the New England Organ Bank, 60 First Ave. Waltham, Ma 02451 or the Vascular Disease Foundation, 550 M. Ritchie Highway, PMB-281, Severna Park, MD 21146.
Kait would love to know that each of you she touched will do something nice for someone else, that’s how she lived her life; by putting others first.
