Dear Ruth, Today I reread the newspaper accounts of your husband's wonderful life and untimely death.I keep remembering that when Jesus heard of Lazarus' death, he wept, and that if it was an appropriate response for Him it can be for us, also. You and your children are in my prayers.

To the Fairburn family, We will pray for your strength and courage in dealing with this unexpected loss of a such a wonderful family man and dedicated fireman. Our prayers go out to the family of firefighters who worked with Bob everyday also. Bob came to our home when we had a problem with carbon monoxide several years ago. He was a very kind and worthy gentleman and cared deeply for his family and community. God rest his soul.

Ruth Ann and family, We were so stunned to hear of Bob's passing. We didn't know him very well but after living here for 29 years, we had heard of him. We got to know him more personally on the night of 6/2/06 when he was directing a fire at our house, which, unfortunately, they could not save. We wanted you to know of his kindness and compassion that night and the next day. In the midst of a horrible event, where there were other nice firefighters, he stood out to us as the one we will always remember. Our prayers and thoughts are with you at this time. As we say farewell to a fallen hero we are reminded that you spent your life watching out for all of us, both friend or stranger alike. As Christians we know that death is not extinguishing the light, but simply putting out the lamp because dawn has come.

RuthAnne, Donny, Elizabeth, and Dan, We know how much you must be hurting right now but we hope that the memories of what a wonderful man your husband and father was will ease your pain in the coming months and years. Not many people make as big a mark on their community as Bob did. He gave so much to all of us and he will be sadly missed. You were his joy and his life and it was very obvious in everything he did. He will always be there for you, just a prayer away. We were all blessed to be able to call him our neighbor and friend. Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. The Conrad Family

A tall and quiet man who showed that it is not in your words, but in your actions, that your strength and integrity are conveyed. I always wished I had a little more Bob Fairburn in me. My thoughts are with you Ruth, Donnie, Elizabeth, Dan and family.
