Obituary

Richard Bramhall, of Plymouth and formerly of Watertown, passed away on March 1st surrounded by his loving family. He was 86 years old. Born in Arlington, Massachusetts he graduated from Mt. Hermon Prep School. He was a member of the Mayflower Society, Pilgrim Society, Antiquarian Society, Plimoth Plantation, the Chiltonville Church and the Plymouth Yacht Club where he used to sail with his brothers. He was also involved in town politics and a town meeting representative. He was on the finance committee as well. Richard was a Troop 44 Boy Scout leader and a volunteer firefighter in Plymouth for over 20 years. Richard was known as the “Mayor of Chiltonville” and enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. He was the proprietor of the Bramhall General Store in the 1950’s and converted it into a carpentry shop. Upon his retirement in 1985, Richard and his wife wintered in Englewood, Florida and spent their summers in their cottage in Boot Pond. Richard was known for his honesty and integrity. Richard has been invested for a long time in helping the environment. He practiced organic farming and sold his produce at an honor stand on Sandwich Street. Richard was a Flight Officer in the Army Air Force during WWII and was honorably discharged in 1945.

Richard was the devoted husband for 62 years of Virginia (Phinney) Bramhall. He was the loving father of Cynthia “Cindy” Jenkins and her husband Richard of Plymouth and Ft. Myers, FL, Richard “Wedge” Jr. and his wife Jami of Plymouth, and Charles D. “Chuck” and his wife Cheryl of Plymouth. Dear brother of Eleanor Maver of Plymouth and the late George and David Bramhall. Richard is also survived by 7 grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be held at the Richard Davis Funeral Home, 619 State Rd., Plymouth (Manomet) on Sunday, March 7th from 2:00 – 5:00 PM. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers donation can be made to Cranberry Hospice, 36 Cordage Park Circle, Suite 326, Plymouth, MA 02360.
