George's passing is a huge, huge loss for the Aviation Lighting community. He was the guy whom you went to for answers ... and, most often, just the pleasure of his company. My deepest heartfelt condonences to his family. eduard at home

To the family, friends + business associates of the late George Mandeville Jr. On behalf of all the members of the Canadian Airports Electrical community across Our Canada, I would like to convey our deepest sympathy on the untimely passing of our good friend from New Hampshire. Over the last 16 to 17 years, George did a lot of work at the airports across Canada. Initally, we met him when he was manager for Flash and subsequently, when he started up S.A.L.T = Strobe Approach Lighting Technology. As a result of his work in Canada, many of us, working in the airport electrical field had a chance to meet George and his close associates Richad and Fred. We used to call George on the telephone day and night, at the office, in his car and at home when he was having his dinner. He was always patient with us, providing good and useful technical information on how to solve our operational and maintenance problems with the Flash and S.A.L.T equipment: = ODALS. REILS. SSALR's and high intensity flashing beacons that he was responsible for supplying. He was very patient, especially when we called during dinner time, and we were still woking at on the airfield trying to get "HIS" operating properly so that airplanes could land safely. I can remember that we were not allowed to "Cross The Beams" and we should not be connecting the bare copper counterposie ground wire to the to the chassis of his power and control units . . . . in order to protect the sensitive electronics from damage that might result from the arrival of Mr. Lightning and the surging ghosts in his busted posse. Eventually we were able to get George to reveal the secret of how to bond the flash equipment to ground for the safety of our electricians while at the same time to make our ODAL + REIL flashing lights comply with the Canadian Electrical Code to keep the electrical inspectors relatively happy and all the while, avoiding a direct connection to the counterpoise. We appreciate his support at our annual CANEW events over the last 10 to 12 years. Then there were the times that he sent Richard and Fred up to Canada to demonstrate, lecture, teach and educate our CANEW team. We are going to miss George because he because he had the right stuff at the right time. We were very sad to learn about his passing. Please accept our deepest condolances and sympathy. The end signed: Alfie Yip, Regional Electrical Engineer at Transport Canaada, on behalf of the members of The Canadian Airports Electrical Association Inc. (CAEA)

To Steve and Scott Your father was a very loving and caring man. I will all ways remember the fun times we had as kids. Especially our camping trips. I had a lot of respect for him, so much my son George is named after him. I can only hope he will be half the man your Dad was. Love All Ways, LaurieAnn (Doucette) Wright

Uncle Brud was truly one of my favorite uncles, and he wasn't even a real uncle. That was the thing about him, he made every one feel like they were family. I grew up with him and spent many a summer camping and apple picking with the Mandevilles. We always laughed, we always had good times, we always had a story to tell at the end and it usually had to do with Uncle Brud. Whether it was his car fire, his hitting a water line, many a campfire joke, his "gotcha" antics, or just hearing his very distinctive whistle for us kids to get our butts back to the campsite; if he wasn't there, we weren't laughing. The years may have rolled on, and life may have thrown him some curves, but still, we weren't smiling or laughing nearly enough until he showed up. I know to all of the family and everyone that knew him, it's all those memories we have that will make this sad time just a little bit easier. Steve and Scott you are in my thoughts and prayers. Your dad was a truly good man and loved by many. Especially me. Michele
