CONDOLENCES (GuestBook)

The Town of Derry has lost a treasure. Carol was the backbone of the Recreation Department. Her involvement and insistence that things be done the right way in everything she took part in gave class to all those many programs. For me personally I lost a great former co-worker and a wonderful friend and neighbor. She never ceased to build my ego with kind words. We will miss her terribly. Our love to all. Don Ball & family

Carol was as interesting as she was vivacious, as kind as she was dedicated to her "kids." She always had time for everyone. She loved her family, her friends, her town, her country and her kids. I will miss her generosity, her kindness, and her friendship.

I met Carol once or twice when I was a youngster through my Aunty Kaye (her sister) - I mostly remember what an active, strong person she was and how much she looked like the Aunt I so admired. I hope that your memories of her - and her presence in your hearts - will help to sustain you during this difficult time.

After nearly 40 years, while looking for a swim squad for my teenager here in Sydney Australia, Carol Madden's name popped into my head unexpectedly. I googled her to sadly find that she had passed away some years ago. Carol taught me how to be a swimming teacher in the 1980s at Hood Park. She raised the bar, and we young swimming teachers jumped over it. She showed us what it was like to be a good employee, to be punctual, to deal with parents in a professional manner, to get the most out of our students, to give a 100%. What a great role model she was for me, at one of my first jobs. She led by example and was kind, fair and nurturing to her young staff. To her family, please accept my belated yet sincere condolences on the death of this remarkable woman.
