My deepest sympathy to the Raffi family. My father, Steve Uchman, mentioned his name often. He too was a Dale Carnegie instructor. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time.

Sorry to read of Charlie's passing. My heartfelt sympathy to all the Raffi family . We couldn't play a Harvard Hockey game without Charley and Rita in the stands. You were our biggest and best supporters. You are all in my prayers.

Mrs. Raffi, Chip and Family- Charlie was truly a wonderful guy. I am sure you are all comforted by many wonderful memories. I know he loved you all and the game of golf. My thoughts are with you. Bob Donovan

Dear Rita and family, I am very sorry to learn of Charlie’s passing. I am Charlie’s cousin. My mother, Adelina Margaret Raffi Cavicke, was one of Charles Sr’s two sisters (Adelina and Matilda). Our family moved from Somerville to Arlington in 1932 and, while growing-up, my brother Dave and I spent time with Jim and Charlie during holiday and vacation gatherings. Age-wise, Dave was between Jim and Charlie; I was about 4 years younger than Charlie. Dave, a neurosurgeon in New London, CT, passed away in 1992. My father, Louis Cavicke, also worked for Raffi and Swanson as the Plant Engineer for 20 years. In 1953, he and my mother moved to our summer home, at Cedarville, MA, where Dad pursued his avocation as an architect, builder and developer of the large acreage he owned there. Both Charles Sr. and Jim built houses on that property. Although our parents stayed close and relayed family news, we children went our separate ways in the 1950’s and, regrettably, rarely saw one another in the years that followed. Most of my 30-year career as a Naval Aviator was spent flying from and serving aboard aircraft carriers and other ships based in California. My wife, Virginia, and my trips back to New England were infrequent and, though much of the time there was for our 4 children to get to know their grandparents, on a few of those “melancholy” Cedarville visits, we got to say hello to Jim and Joan. Another cousin, on my Father’s side, Anna Igo Cianciolo, and her husband Larry, also have a house at Cedarville. They have kindly forwarded occasional updates on Jim and Charlie which allowed me to recently locate, call and talk to Jim. As impossible as it sounds, I don’t recall having even seen Charlie in the last 60+ years; however, in my mind, the bond which we formed in those early days, remained strong. His loss is still a loss of family and difficult for me to accept. With prayers and heart-felt condolences, Richard J. Cavicke Captain, USN Retired
